Tutorial: How to Flash your N97 with Phoenix (upgrade, or flash dead phones)

This tutorial can b used to upgrade,downgrade and flashing of dead phones.
BTW, this works for XP n Vista, x86 or x 64!!!

Tools Required:
1.Phoenix Service 2009 suite:
Direct Download: http://phoenixslayer.blogspot.com/

2.Navifirm:
Download link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?zggnjlnzzhd
Before Flashing:
- backup your phone number and phone number of important personal information. If you want a clean installation, format your E: drive as well using the built in Nokia file manager .
Lets Start…….
->Run Phoenix Service Software  installer.
>Start Installing Phoenix
-> Now (the boring part) run Navifirm (it takes an hour or more to download the whole patch)…
Note: the reason i don’t use the builtin image downloader because it downloads older versions, from my experience.
After the files downloaded, copy them to C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-505\
->Now Run Phoenix 2009
->Turn on the phone (it will start in offline mode because there is no SIM card inside).
->Plug in the USB cable to both the phone and the computer.
->When prompted, select “PC Suite” from the menu list on the phone.
->Wait for *all* drivers to fully install themselves before proceeding. You will see the driver icon disappear when it is complete.
-> Now Choose File Then Manage Connection
->###### “New”
->###### USB, and then ###### Next
->It will then search your USB ports for the phone. When it finds it, hit Finish
->Once it has finished scanning, ###### apply, then ###### close.
->Next, select “Scan Product” from the File menu.

-> Once finished scanning, you can see your model of phone and other details at the bottom screen.
->From the Flashing menu, choose Firmware Update.

->Wait for Phoenix to continue talking to the phone. You will see some information scroll by in the firmware Update window.
->###### Browse
->See the product code section.U should find ur product code in that column.If u see “ur” product code,well and good.
 -> but if u dont see ur code,or dont see anything for that matters,press on the “…” in the given prCode section.
You should see RM505-blabla, select that. Variant version =00. I will select “Refurbish” so that it will restore it to factory set (Clean and default C:).
 ->Press Start

Ignore the warning and click YES
The flashing process takes about five minutes to complete. The first few steps ensure connectivity to the phone.
After it verifies connectivity,Phoenix will automatically restart the phone.
 Once it has completed (a dialog box will popup saying it has completed successfully), you may close Phoenix,
unplug the USB cable, and restart your phone. It should startup with the firmware you flashed to it.

How to Manually Update Motorola DROID X to Android 2.2.1

Verizon Wireless has started to deliver over-the-air (OTA) the latest Android 2.3.340 software update for Motorola DROID X on December 7th, but it seems that only a handful of subscribers have gotten the file.

It is unclear if the carrier has decided to push the update only to those subscribers who were members of the Motorola Feedback Network program or it is being delivered randomly to a certain number of subscribers.
Thanks to the guys over at XDA who got their hands on the update file, Motorola DROID X owners will now be able to manually upgrade their devices without waiting for the OTA update.
Apparently, it doesn't matter if your device is rooted. Instead the update will search your firmware for the bloatware that the phone was stuffed with, such as Blockbuster and VZ Navigator, in order to “validate” the device before update.

As long as you haven't removed or freezed any carrier-branded apps bundled in DROID X, you are eligible for the update.
The latest Android 2.3.340 software update for Motorola DROID X has 25.7 MB in size and can be downloaded from Softpedia.

Users who successfully upgraded to Android 2.2.1 reported that the update goes smoother if your device is running system build 2.3.15.
After downloading the update.zip file from Softpedia make sure you copy it to the root of your SD memory card and power off your DROID X.
The next step required is to boot your phone into recovery mode, which can be done by holding down “Home” and “Power” until the phone starts and then release the “Power” button.
Keep pressing the “Home” button until you get an exclamation mark displayed on the screen.
Release the “Home” button and press the “Search” key once. You have just made your Motorola DROID X to boot up in Recovery Mode.
From the quick menu select “Apply update.zip” by using the volume key and press the camera button to start the update.
The whole process will take about 5 minutes, after which the phone will boot up for another 5 minutes.
The full changelog of the update is detailed below:
New features:
- Preloaded Madden NFL football game;
- Preloaded Adobe Flash Player 10.1;
- Preloaded MyVerizon application (v5);
- Added Data Widget to home panel.
Improvements:
- Improved Android OS Froyo stability;
- Improvements to Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync: Enhancements to corporate email sync and push stop; PIN lock timeout now follows the server's settings; Enhancements to SMTP authentication.
- Improvements to Visual Voice Mail: “Failed delivery to” message displays correctly when messages can't be sent; Audio routes correctly to speaker, even when connected to a mono Bluetooth headset.

Other improvements:
- Device now supports MP3 media files after MR2 update;
- MusicPlay now runs smoothly and without lock-ups;
- Weather widget stays with assigned location updates, not current location;
- “Smart Profile: Face Down” feature will not permanently disable the phone's ringer;
- Enhanced audio sync when playing high quality WMV videos;
- Improved video playback;
- Clearer colors assigned to soft keys in applications such as Google Maps;
- In the Contacts widget, keyboard now appears when using “type to search”;
- Eliminated camera “Force Close” errors;
- Device lock remains, even after a long, hard key press;
- Quicker wake-up of display when on a call.

As a side note, the Madden NFL football game is not included in the update, but when you click on the game's icon the phone will start to download the game files, so make sure you have Wi-Fi enabled or a data connection set up.

Official Android 2.3 Gingerbread Tips and Tricks

Announced at the beginning of the month, Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile platform is barely making its way on the market. Currently, there's only one smartphone available on the market, which is delivered with Android OS 2.3 out-of-the-box, the Nexus S.

To raise Gingerbread's awareness Google decided to give Android fans an insight of its last iteration of the mobile platform, by posting a high number of tips and tricks.

Several of these tips are specific to Android 2.3, while others are present on older versions of the mobile operating system, as well.

When it comes to keyboard use, Android 2.3 offers a few useful tweaks that make it easier to type, such as capitalizing a word. Users can press and hold Shift and Key to capitalize a certain letter, instead of changing the keyboard's mode to 'All caps'.

The 'auto-complete' feature enables users to finish a word with a single click. When the feature is available the 'space bar' key lights up.

Furthermore, to replace a certain word with another one, users can tap on the word and then click on any of the suggested words. This feature is called Quick replace.

To access special characters users can press and hold any key to go to the special character keyboard or press and hold the ',' key to get to a more extensive punctuation keyboard.

Android 2.3 introduces something called Visual cue for scrolling. This means that when you're at the bottom of a list that has just scrolled, you will get an orange hue meaning that you cannot scroll anymore.

Copy/paste from a webpage is now easier, as users only need to press and hold their finger on a text and drag the cursors around the text they want to copy and then press in the highlighted square. To paste the selected text simply press a text entry and select paste. However, this does not apply for Gmail where users have to go to Menu / More / Select text.

The notification bar icons will now turn green when users have an unrestricted connection to Google, otherwise they will be white.

As a side note, Wi-Fi bars won't turn green until the user launches the browser and gets past the captive portal.

Following the recent Google Maps upgrade, users will not be able to look at the maps in 3D. The Walk feature can be initiated by clicking on the walking person icon to get walking direction.

Stay tuned for more Android 2.3 Gingerbread tips and tricks.

Tutorial: How to debrand and flash newer firmware to your Galaxy S

Here's a step by step tutorial on how to flash firmware onto your Galaxy S, this can be used for debranding your phone from network operator firmware which is normally slow and full of logos etc.

A couple of things:

  • Flashing new firmware doesn't unlock your Galaxy S
  • Flashing firmware other than the original operator will most likely void your warrenty. Find your original firmware as a means of back up.

I've tested this myself on Windows 7 x64. Here's the steps involved.

Preparation:
  1. Download and install the lastest Samsung Kies
  2. Download and install Odin3 V1.0 with the included Samsung Galaxy S pit file
  3. Download the selected Galaxy S Firmware you require. You will have to register on Samsung-Firmwares.com. Be careful and download only a suitable firmware. For example if your current firmware is i9000XXJF2 stick to i9000XXxxx firmware. XX European DX = Asian markets. To view your current firmware version type *#1234# in the phone keypad.
  4. Make sure your phone connects and sygic fine with Samsung Kies
  5. Start your phone in download mode. Power off the mobile. Remove the sim and mircosd. The hold volume down, the home key (middle button) and power button at the same time. Keep holding them till you see an Downloading Android logo.
  6. Connect your USB cable to the phone. Wait for Windows to install the usb download mode drivers.
  7. Once done reboot your computer to be on the safe side.
Galaxy S flashing / debranding procedure:

  1. Start Odin3 and then connect your Galaxy S via USB (Still in download mode)
  2. Odin3 should then report Com7 has connected
  3. Select the pit file and then PDA.tar from the firmware you download over at Samsung-Firmwares.com Only select the PDA / Code file.
  4. You should have the following as per the screenshot below:
  5. Start the download, allow it to finish 100% and then reset before disconnecting the usb cable.

Tips if it doesn't work:

Sometimes Odin doesn't start the process and sits there in cache.rfs. Don't worry, you can disconnect the mobile. Normally if all goes well flashing takes about 1 minute a little more and you should see a blue progress bar
on your phone at the same time. (Dont remove the usb cable or power off the phone if you see a blue progress bar)

If it fails and you get a failed to start, service logo (USB and phone logo with !) Don't panic. Remove the battery, replace it and then enter download mode again. Restart Odin3 and try again.

These phones are very hard to completely brick. So don't worry

Sony Ericsson W660i flash tutorial

Warning, this tutorial is for flash phone, not unlock it. In free translation by flash, the phone will not be used except with the Orange card. For decoding, you should call an authorized service and pay a fee. Just need to proceed and to get the necessary programs on the Internet, so I advise you to call your phone service than it will knock you head, especially if you are not opinion as to how in the field.
Ok, let us begin.
1. Download all files attached to this post, and then unzip them (less than HB1_06_Gen_CDA102568_4_R8A_GENERIC_MEDITERR file, which must remain in its original form, the zip archive).
2. After unzipping, make a folder on your desktop with the name of the firmware, you put W660_R8BB001_FS_MEDITERR_RED52.fbn file, zip archive file W660_R8BB001_MAIN_GENERIC_FY_RED52.mbn and above that is not a need to unpack.
3. Prepare for your operation. Make sure the phone is loaded at least 50% before starting to have on hand and the USB cable that was in the phone box. Remove the battery from the phone for a few seconds and then put it back without starting the phone.
4. Connect the USB cable to your computer but not online yet.
5. Open Seetool2lite program and make the following operations:- In menu 'Phone Type' choose the W660i;- Click on "Add, and select the file, W660_R8BB001_MAIN_GENERIC_FY_RED52.mbn ';- Give again click on "Add, and select the file, W660_R8BB001_FS_MEDITERR_RED52.fbn ';- The menu, move files, "select the file, HB1_06_Gen_CDA102568_4_R8A_GENERIC_MEDITERR,,, attention, file must remain in the form of zip archives.- Flash button, hold down the C key on phone and, simultaneously, connect the phone;
6. If you've followed these steps correctly, will begin the flash. It will take somewhere between 5 and 10 min, is normal, the operation is not instantaneous. Do not disconnect the phone during this time or the USB cable from the computer.
7. After flash, disconnect the phone from the USB cable and turn it on. SE logo appears on the screen and then a window with the message 'Please wait', until the phone will complete a series of operations. This process takes about 1-2 minutes.
8. Congratulations, you now have an mobile phone free.
WARNING: flash process leads to loss of all phone data (messages, contacts, notes, settings, themes, games, etc..). Save them before payment.
WARNING: Not responsible for any problems / malfunctions occurred in the resfotare. This is done at your own risk .

Flash tutorial samsung s5230

(These are the steps followed by me .. I noticed that there are several tutorials on Samsung S5230 resoftarea but each has something different .. it is created and proved to me but it has to rely on others)

1. Make sure the phone is not coded (Call * # 7465625 # - SIM LOCK must be OFF) and that your computer runs Windows XP SP2 or SP3 or Vista ,WIN7
2. Install USB Drivers (if you can not install USB drivers download the latest version of Samsung PC Studio New - contains the USB drivers) and download the V5.56 Multiloader SGT-S5230 (after installing the drivers, usually have to restart your computer).
3. Backup the phone book with New Samsung PC Studio (found on the CD and ro.samsungmobile.com phone).
4. Download the firmware S5230XEIG4 (new menu, not Romanian, gets java card).
5. Make sure that in New Samsung PC Studio have not turned on when you start resoftarea.
6. Unzip the firmware archive to a folder.
7. Turn off your phone and remove SIM card.
8. Without turning it on press volume-up phone + camera + power (on the phone screen should appear "Download").
9. Enter your phone data cable.
10. SGT-S5230 Open Multiloader V5.56.
11. Select BRCM2133, Boot Change and Full Download.
12. Click on the folder and choose Boot boot files in the folder where you unzipped the firmware.
13. Click and pick apps_compressed.bin Amss
14. Click and pick Rsrc_S5230_Open_Europe_Slav.rc1 Rsrc1
15. Click and pick Rsrc2 Rsrc2_S5230 (Low) _RU.rc2
16. FS Factory click and select FactoryFs_S5230_Open_Europe_Slav_RU.ffs FOTA, ETC Tune and be left free.
17. Click on the search port (usually in the Search box appears in the Port "S5230").
18. Upload files folder again to boot.
19. Check the boxes that boot buttons, Amss, Rsrc1, Rsrc2 and Factory FS.
20. MUST NOT be marked Master Rom.
21. Click Download (in case it says "Serial port error, retry in paragraph 17).

Now you need to quickly upload files to boot and reboot. If not restart and begins to install directly Amss probably have not followed all the steps above me and resoftarea not successful. But it is very serious because it can resume with more attention to paragraph 7. I personally have had two unsuccessful attempts resoftare, I had chosen a bright red screen. 3rd time was lucky - I followed exactly the steps and above and now I have a phone with some pluses to the initial state.
